Thank you for your interest in working at Camp Stella Maris. Stella Maris is a Christian camp and holds to the values of the Christian tradition. We look for individuals with diverse skills necessary to become successful counselors; individuals who will live and grow in a Christian environment - staff who will be open, honest, and forgiving; positive role models for children and fellow staff.

Also, New York State health regulations state that a counselor at an overnight camp be at least 17 years old. Therefore, you must be 17 on or before June 29, 2008, if interested in becoming a COUNSELOR. Anyone who is 16 may apply for kitchen or maintenance.

CSM has personnel policies with regard to curfew, smoking, appearance, etc., which will be strictly enforced. Drinking of alcoholic beverages and possession/use of illegal drugs is forbidden. I ask you to consider these expectations and statements before you fill out the enclosed application for employment. Please keep in mind that we strongly prefer summer staff members to be available for the entire period (June 22 through August 22). If everything else is equal, we will select applicants who are available all summer. If you feel you can make a commitment to these and other policies, I look forward to receiving your application.

2008 DATES OF EMPLOYMENT

May 23-25 Managerial Training Weekend for all Core Staff, mandatory.
May 31-June 1 "New to CSM Staff" Pre-Camp Orientation (8:30 AM, 5/31 to 10 AM, 6/1), mandatory.
June 1 All staff to attend (10 AM to 4 PM), mandatory.
June 22-27 Pre-Camp Orientation - All staff to attend, mandatory.

Our regular season begins Sunday, June 29 and ends Friday, August 22. Employees are expected to contract through the end of season.

*New York State Health Laws require counselors to be at least 17 years of age in order to supervise campers. Please consider this when indicating which position you are applying for.
