Camp Stella Maris 100th Anniversary Celebration

Participant Code of Conduct

Purpose

The Camp Stella Maris 100th Anniversary Celebration is an opportunity to honor 100 years of history, celebrate the people who have been part of the Camp Stella Maris community, and look forward to the future.

To ensure that all participants can enjoy the celebration in a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment, Camp Stella Maris expects everyone attending the event to follow this Code of Conduct.

1. Respect for Others

All participants are expected to:

• Treat everyone with courtesy, dignity, and respect.
• Respect differences in age, background, opinions, experiences, and perspectives.
• Refrain from harassment, bullying, intimidation, discrimination, threats, or abusive behavior.
• Respect personal boundaries and the privacy of others.
• Follow reasonable directions from Camp Stella Maris staff and event volunteers.

2. Appropriate Behavior

Participants are expected to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the values and mission of Camp Stella Maris.

The following behavior is prohibited:

• Fighting, physical aggression, or threatening behavior.
• Verbal abuse, harassment, intimidation, or threatening language.
• Discriminatory or hateful conduct.
• Sexual harassment or inappropriate sexual conduct.
• Deliberate damage to Camp Stella Maris property or the property of others.
• Theft or unauthorized use of another person’s property.
• Disruptive behavior that interferes with the celebration or another participant’s enjoyment of the event.
• Entering areas designated as restricted or off-limits.
• Refusing to comply with reasonable instructions from CSM staff or Event volunteers.

3. Alcohol and Impairment

Alcohol may only be consumed in accordance with Camp Stella Maris event policies and applicable laws.

Participants are expected to drink responsibly and behave appropriately. Individuals who appear intoxicated or whose behavior presents a safety concern may be asked to stop consuming alcohol, leave the event, or otherwise comply with directions from event leadership.

Illegal drugs and the possession, use, or distribution of illegal substances are prohibited on Camp Stella Maris property.

4. Weapons and Dangerous Items

Weapons and other items that could reasonably pose a danger to participants are prohibited at the celebration, except as specifically permitted by applicable law and expressly authorized by Camp Stella Maris.

Any participant observed possessing a prohibited weapon or dangerous item may be denied admission or removed from the event, and law enforcement may be contacted when appropriate.

5. Camp Property and Facilities

Participants are expected to respect the Camp Stella Maris property and facilities.

Participants should:

• Use facilities and equipment appropriately.
• Dispose of trash and personal belongings properly.
• Respect restricted areas and areas designated for staff or event operations.
• Report damage, hazards, or safety concerns to event staff.
• Refrain from climbing on structures, entering unsafe areas, or engaging in activities that could create a safety risk.

6. Photography, Video, and Privacy

Participants should be respectful when photographing or recording others.

Photography and video are generally permitted during the celebration; however, participants should not photograph or record individuals who have specifically requested not to be recorded.

Commercial photography, recording, or media activity requires prior authorization from Camp Stella Maris.

7. Children and Minors

Parents, guardians, and accompanying adults are responsible for the supervision and safety of children and minors in their care.

Children may not be left unattended in areas of the property where supervision is required. Parents and guardians are expected to ensure that children follow this Code of Conduct and all reasonable directions from Camp Stella Maris staff.

8. Safety and Emergency Procedures

All participants are expected to follow Camp Stella Maris emergency procedures and the directions of staff in the event of an emergency.

Participants should immediately report:

• Safety hazards.
• Suspicious or threatening behavior.
• Medical emergencies.
• Lost children or vulnerable individuals.
• Property damage or other incidents requiring staff attention.

Participants should not attempt to intervene physically in a dangerous situation unless necessary to protect themselves or another person from immediate harm.

9. Compliance with Event Policies

Attendance at the 100th Anniversary Celebration constitutes agreement to follow this Code of Conduct and all other applicable Camp Stella Maris event policies.

This includes the Policy for Unregistered Guests and Alcohol Policy.

Camp Stella Maris reserves the right to refuse admission or revoke admission from any individual who violates this Code of Conduct or whose conduct is determined to create a safety, security, or disruption concern.

10. Reporting Concerns

Participants who experience or witness behavior that violates this Code of Conduct should promptly notify a Camp Stella Maris staff member or event volunteer.

Reports will be handled as appropriately and discreetly as circumstances allow.

Participants should not take matters into their own hands or attempt to confront another individual on behalf of Camp Stella Maris.

11. Enforcement

Camp Stella Maris reserves the right to take appropriate action in response to violations of this Code of Conduct.

Depending on the circumstances, action may include:

• A verbal warning.
• Direction to cease the inappropriate behavior.
• Removal from a particular area.
• Removal from the event.
• Revocation of event admission or participation privileges.
• Prohibition from returning to the event.
• Contacting a parent, guardian, or responsible adult when appropriate.
• Contacting law enforcement or emergency services when necessary.

The Executive Director or their designated representative has final authority regarding enforcement of this Code of Conduct.

12. Right to Refuse or Revoke Admission

Camp Stella Maris reserves the right to refuse admission to, or require the departure of, any individual whose conduct, behavior, or presence is determined to be inconsistent with the safety, security, dignity, or orderly operation of the event.

This authority may be exercised regardless of whether an individual has previously registered for the event.

Individuals who are asked to leave are expected to comply immediately. Failure to comply may result in law enforcement being contacted.

Participant Acknowledgment

By attending the Camp Stella Maris 100th Anniversary Celebration, participants acknowledge that they are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful, responsible, and safe manner and agree to comply with this Code of Conduct and reasonable directions from Camp Stella Maris event personnel.
